SUBJECT: Award Bid-27 Cubic Yard Solid Waste Automated Side -Loader
MEETING DATE: Sept 6, 2011
BACKGROUND: Three bids for a 27 cubic yard side -loader were opened on August 26, 2011.
Three bids were received, two separate bids from Montana Peterbilt and one from. Solid Waste
Systems. Bid specifications included the option to bid a new sideloader or a factory demo
sideloader.
Bids Were Analyzed and Summarized Below:
Montana Peterbilt - $254,552
Bid a new 27 cubic yard side -loader. Bid was in order and met specifications.
Montana Peterbilt - $244,552
Bid a new side -loader. Bid was in order but did not meet specifications. Deviations from
specifications included: Bid a 26 cubic yard truck instead of 27 cubic yards, did not include
universal grabbers, or a hopper cover.
Solid Waste Systems - $229,134
Bid a factory demo. Bid was in order and met specifications. Bid received was for a 2010
model with 16,050 miles on unit.
Staff Recommendation is to award the bid to Solid Waste Systems of Spokane, Washington.
ACTION REQUESTED: AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6,
MOTION TO AWARD THE BID FOR A 27 CUBIC YARD SOLID WASTE
AUTOMATED SIDE -LOADER TO SOLID WASTE SYTEMS,
FISCAL EFFECTS: This project is budgeted at $260,000 in the FY 2011/12 Solid Waste Fund
budget.
