BACKGROUND: The Kalispell Police Department instituted a Reserve officer
Program in late 2007 with three reserve officer candidates. A reserve officer is a sworn,
part-time, volunteer member of the Kalispell Police Department who is a peace officer
only when authorized to perform these functions as a representative of our department.
The candidates are required to pass a minimum 88 hours of basic training and
successfully complete an intensive 300 hour FTO program to be removed from field
training status.
It is my privilege to recognize Kalispell Reserve officer Doug Wilkey for successfully
completing all phases and requirements of the Reserve officer Program. Reserve officer
Wilkey will be awarded an official KPD badge as a result of his successful completion
and dedication to the Kalispell Police Reserve Program.
RECOMMENDATIONS: official recognition of Reserve officer Terry Wilkey.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Substantial benefit for the city.
ALTERNATIVES: None.
Respectfully submitted,
