Resolution 5515 - Budget Resolution - Urban ForestryFROM: Amy Robertson, Finance Director Jane Howington, City Manager SUBJECT: City Special Assessments -- FY 2011-2012 MEETING DATE; August 15, 2011 BACKGROUND: The special assessment resolutions are adopted annually to provide a levy to fund the costs of the city special programs finance by an assessment levy. The resolutions include the assessments for Lighting, Solid waste, Urban Forestry, Special Street Maintenance and Storm Sewer. Solid waste increased by $3.00 per year to $111.00 per year for residential collection. No other assessments changed. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of each resolution setting the assessments for Lighting, Solid Waste, Urban Forestry, Special Street Maintenance and Storm Sewer. FISCAL EFFECTS: Each resolution indicates the anticipated revenue to be generated by the assessment. Amy H. Robertson t Jane Howington Finance Director City Manager Report compiled: July 25, 2011 WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Urban Forestry District for the fiscal year 2011-2012 is estimated to be $209,000.00; and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 1. 8th day of July, 2011, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. ! i',rV TAEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCILOF / SECTION I. That a tax levied for the assessment cost, or $209,000.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shorn by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION I. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of $.00171 per lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of gray. Tax levy amount shall be capped at $150.00 per residential parcel and $300 per commercial parcel.
