This year the City of Kalispell is playing host to the Lauren Granmo
6th Annual Family Fly -In and Aviation Safety Expo. This event Wardell
will take place July 10, 11 and 12 at Kalispell City Airport.
Pamela B. Kennedy
The expo schedules more than 40 varied safety seminars, a Ward IV
Mountain Flying Course, survival course, numerous display M. Duane Larson
booths, and an FAA Pilot Proficiency Awards programs (Wings). Ward
The seminar headquarters is located at the Outlaw Inn with
registration at the City Airport.
In 1991 the "Fly -In" registered 434 pilots with 365
aircraft. The event is attracting pilots from all over the
western region and Canada. It appears that Kalispell is very
appealing as a host community for these destination pilots and
their program.
The airport will be provided with a portable traffic
control tower and manned by registered air traffic controllers
during the event. The City provides the facility while the FAA
sponsors and schedules the event. Very limited activity will
take place on the airport besides the arrival and leaving of
the participants. The majority of the action is reserved for
the scheduled ground seminars at the Outlaw Inn.
I am working with a group of community volunteers and the
FAA to insure the 6th Annual Expo will be a success again this
year. I will be giving you and Council periodic updates as the
event date draws closer. If you would like any specific
information regarding the "Fly -In", I would be happy to supply
it to you or Council at your request.
Sincerely,
Mich el Baker, C.L.P.
