q w e s t n e t
Ben Frerichs is an economist with over 32 years experience applying
economics and finance to real estate, land use, economic development,
strategic planning, and public facilities projects, programs and policies.
His 20 years of economic consulting experience includes market and
financial feasibility studies for a wide range of public and private real estate
projects; economic, land value, fiscal and development impact analysis of
public and private facilities; land use and regulatory programs and
proposed policies; and formulation and implementation of financial
strategies for economic and real estate development as well as community
planning.
Presentations at conferences and workshops, short courses, speeches and
writing articles related to community growth and real estate analysis are
also part of this concentration on providing information for those who can
use it. In addition, his academic career and research focused on state and
local public finance. He has been a part time instructor at several
universities in Washington including teaching real estate and urban
development in the Urban Design and Planning program at the University
of Washington. Mr. Frerichs has been involved as an advisor to the
graduate program in urban design and planning in the School of
Architecture as well as served on the boards of non-profit and professional
organizations.
Profile of Professional Services
The consulting services available with our firm can assist a wide variety of decision makers.
The experience of the firm typically includes one or more of the following areas:
® Market, site/location, and financial feasibility analysis for private real estate and public
facilities;
® Strategic planning and research for real estate, comprehensive/land use, public
facilities, economic and community development;
® Economic, fiscal, land value and development impact studies;
® Municipal finance and investment analysis for capital facilities;
® Projections for population, employment, enrollment, facilities attendance, local
government finances, and real estate and land use needs;
® Policy analysis and research for public and private decision -making;
® Presentations for professional and community organizations, articles for professional
and general publications; and
® Invited participation in panels of advisors and expert testimony for judicial and quasi-
judicial proceedings.
The one unifying theme for most of our work is that we provide information and analysis for
clients who have decisions to make.
Multi -disciplined teams and "user friendly" communication of economic and financial
analysis is a strength represented in this firm's experience. Ben Frerichs is often an invited
speaker/writer at conferences and has provided workshops for community, regional, state and
national meetings.
Our approach to work begins with clearly defining the objectives of the decisions our client
must make, then establishing an appropriate and clear set of tasks to accomplish the
objectives. Our clients are typically faced with very complex, controversial and costly
challenges. The firm strives to clearly communicate credible results of the analysis in terms
that the client can easily interpret and use with confidence in the decision -making process.
