Patrick/Old School Station SID. r City of Kalispell Post office Box 1997 - Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 - Telephone (406) 758-7000 Fax - (406) 758-7758 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: .Tames H. Patrick, City Manager SUBJECT: Old School Station Special Improvement District MEETING DATE: August 1, 2005 BACKGROUND: The City has the opportunity to partner with Montana Venture Partners, LLC to form a public/private industrial park. The tax revenue that this park will generate will assist in developing a sustainable tax base in future years as well as producing at least 1,000 good quality jobs. At the current time there are three to four solid prospects creating approximately 400 jabs over the next five years. Architectural plans have been completed on three of the projects. Two of these businesses would like to get their footings and foundations in as soon as possible. Recruitment of other companies is dependent on Council commitment to this project and moving ahead with the engineering for the internal infrastructure and the formation of the Special Improvement District. FISCAL EFFECTS: Generation of significant tax dollars from new industrial buildings, creation of over 1,000 good paying jobs when built out, and increased wealth in the community. The engineering fees will initially be paid for out of water and wastewater funds on hand. These costs will be reimbursed through the SID bonding. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Council. Respectfully submitted, C74mes H. Patrick City Manager
