Dear Council Member,
I write to you today to ask you not to support the planning commissions recommendation
in regards to the 304 unit housing development north of Buffalo Stage Subdivision and
along Whitefish Stage Road.
Several problems come to mind at first glance. Traffic is already very heavy on
Whitefish Stage and this would certainly add to the problem. This would add thousands
of vehicles a day to this already busy roadway. Where will all the children go to school
at? Edgerton is already bursting at the seams. To annex this and offer full city services
will cost the City a lot of money. The $50 million increase in taxable value for the city is
overstated. There is no way this project will add that much taxable value to the tax rolls.
The density of this entire project is way too much. The most that should be allowed is
single family and duplex type of housing. The multiple apartments should not be
allowed. Both sides of Whitefish Stage Road are currently RA- I and there is no reason
this development should be any different than the areas directly around it.
I am not anti -growth at all. I know there is always the need for more affordable housing,
but allowing this development to build multiple apartments is not the answer. It just
won't fit in! Think of the services the city will have to provide! The Police and Fire
Department, the snow removal, the street repair. This is just not worth it for the City.
Please oppose this project!
Sincerely,
i L. Mccamle
