Dear Kalispell City Council,
2H112 AUG 12 PH 2: 20
KALISPELL CITY CLERK
As we will be out of town for the August 13th meeting, we would like to submit the
folloxAdng comments concerning proposed development at the junction of West Reserve
Drive and Stillwater Road.
This piece of property was removed from the West Valley Neighborhood Plan a few
short years ago in order to allow some appropriate development in this area bordering the
rural West Valley area,
The type of dense development that is proposed for this area is more in line with what
should happen close to Kalispell and not in an area that is a transition zone into a rural
agricultural area. Had this property remained in the West Valley Neighborhood Plan, this
type of density would not even be considered.
Though we are not in favor at all of moving development of this type far outside the city
where services are not currently in place, we realize that until a better system comes
along, this is going to happen. It would appear to us that a transition area such as this
would be more suited to 5-acre home sites or at the smallest, 2 or 3-acre home site lots.
We are sure that you will be looking at many factors in your decision such as density,
distance from services, appropriate development for the area, water quality and the like.
We would hope that you would seriously consider not allowing the type of density that
the developer is looking for at this time,
Thank you very much for taking the time to consider our comments.
Sincerely,
W. Kim Davis
