Re: Sunnyside Subdivision Boulevard Landscaping Requirements
Dear Mr. Owens:
Thank you for responding and taking care of the boulevard landscaping problems
we identified in our letter dated March 21, 2005. We inspected Sunnyside
Subdivision Friday, April 29, 2005 and found the boulevards and replacement
trees satisfactory.
For future reference and development, please note that boulevard trees need to
be of species on the enclosed tree planting list and a minimum caliper size of 2
1/4". Should you have any questions or need additional information, please do
not hesitate to contact our office.
Thanks again for working with our office to rectify and satisfy the landscaping
requirements.
Sincerely,
Michael Baker, Director

Re: Sunnyside Subdivision Boulevard Landscaping Requirements
Dear Mr. Owens,
This week our office received a call from a resident in Sunnyside subdivision
regarding his boulevard tree. He mistakenly thought that the city had planted
these trees and had some questions. Wanting to be helpful and of service to
him, I asked my parks foreman to go look at the trees that you as the developer
were required to plant. Quite frankly we were dismayed at the boulevard trees
planted and the conditions of the boulevards. We realize that at this time
landscaping is still in progress and not completed, however the situation with the
trees will need to be addressed as soon as possible.
I recall you contacted and worked with our department for information regarding
the requirements for boulevard landscaping and tree planting. I feel that at that
time you were provided with the City of Kalispell Street Tree Ordinance with
addresses trees sizes, spacing, etc., and also an approved trees species list.
When reviewing the trees that have been planted we noted numerous trees do
not meet the minimum size requirement or our species list, trees are listing and
leaning or broken off and not planted to proper depths. Quite a number of the
trees are dead or dying and will need to be replaced. In addition, at this time the
boulevards do not have seed and/or sod, however this may be something you
had planned on addressing later this spring. We have attached some photos for
your review.
