Notwithstanding the "Engineer's Estimate" attached as Exhibit D, I have attached a revised
estimate based upon unit pricing of our construction contract. It is also more reflective of the
items required to be bonded per section 1,15.
Because a majority of the bonded items will be completed in this first phase, we are requiring
our contractor to bond 125% of the contract amount in favor of the City. As you can see from
the spreadsheet, the remaining sum is $437,825. That difference is made up mainly of the
paving required for phase 2 of the development.
It will not be possible for us to bond work that we do not currently have under contract to be
completed. Therefore, we are asking that the city a) accept the phase one bond amount of
$1,825,000 and, b) allow for the bonding of the phase 2 items when that contract is let.
Considering the tanning involved for securing a bond, we would appreciate your written response
by the end of the week. If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel
