Re: Variance Request, Old Hospital
Dear Sir:
As you will recall, in our original request for variance
from the applicable sections of the Kalispell Zoning Ordinance,
we pleaded that in the alternative to the granting of a variance,
the subject tract be re -zoned to Class Five. Since filing that
document, we have had a greater opportunity to research the
possible uses and the general character of the area involved,
and at this time do not feel that it would be in the best
interests of the neighborhood to continue in the alternative
request for re -zoning, which was ancillary and secondary at the
time.
Please, therefore, consider this letter to be a formal
request to amend that original application for variance to
read as an application for variance only, striking therefrom
all reference to a re-classification from Class One to Class
Five.
The County Attorney is in the process of preparing a Deed
of Dedication with covenants to run with the land from the
Board of County Commissioners to the people of Flathead County,
insuring that only the proposed uses by the County as seen in
the attachments to our Application would qualify under the re-
quested variance which, if granted, would be permitted. I
understand that in some circles fear has been expressed that
the Old Hospital might at some time be used commercially, and
the County is emphatically against such a use; the proposed
Deed with Covenants is intended to operate against just such
a use, and shall run in perpetuity, thus securing the integrity
of the neighborhood.
Yours very truly.0
