unanimously upon vote.
Schedule of Events handout presented. New event noted: September 28, A Run through
History, 5K Race which will run through the gravel drive. Kofford recommended that we
should anticipate the cost of events and develop carry over funds from year to year so we're
not pinching pennies.
The new exhibit, "Conrads at Play" that the staff has been preparing is ready to unveil and
will be done so at the Members Party, September 16, 5:30 — 7:30 p.m. and each Board
Member is asked to invite a guest. Volunteer recognition will be held at this time including
Theresa Knutson for the yearly costume displays, the Hardesty's for Readers' Theatre, and
staff
Tim Gordon was awarded $2500 from the city to do the documents collection and his work
will be done soon. Norley mentioned the possibility of the antique sale event in conjunction
with Gordon's appraisal services at the end of next August. A chairperson for this special
event would be needed. Rita suggested the event be held in the off-season, under shelter to
avoid damage and weather concerns. She mentioned Linda Engh Grady would be good
resource.
Collections Move: Most of the basement items have been moved to Ceravolo's downtown
building in preparation of the foundation renovation and insurance was extended on the
property while it is in that location. The University will be notified to pick up their stored
property or will be asked to gift it to the CM so that we can properly deal with it. Mike
reported additional magazines have been found in the basement and need attention.
Grant Status:
Foundation work - Mike explained a discrepancy between the architectural plan for the
foundation work and the contractors actual work requirements. The project is much more
difficult and will cost more than originally expected so priorities have been established. A
test project of 15' will take place to explore what will be encountered with the work. Then
another meeting with CTA and Board will be scheduled to discuss remaining funds and
prioritize the next steps. Work will begin in early August at the back of the house where
rocks are falling away from the coal shoot and will take approximately 10 days to complete.
Presently work will be done on the inside walls at the front of the house; the outside will be
done when it will not interfere with the Christmas Bazaar. Norley noted that Cory from CTA
has volunteered many hours to provide us with the information needed to apply for the grant.
Safety Lighting - Back entrance stairs; interior stairway; grandmother's hallway; third floor
exhibit space. All the exhibit lighting will be low voltage, low impact and completely
reversible. Flathead Electric granted us $2,000 of our needed $3500. Chris Vick offered to
fund the $1500 shortfall so that we could complete the lighting needs.
New Items: Richard Hardesty found Grandmother Stanford's novella in his research of
Conrad documents in the University archives and is hoping to get this gifted to the Conrad
Mansion. Rita also discussed the interesting writings of Harry Stanford, Naturalist, held in
the Muirfield Library that she has been privileged to read.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Chris Vick reported finding the original copyright on the CM Russell bronzes in his
mother's belongings and he will sign them over to the Mansion.
2. Vick also found the original recipe for the Ginger Bread Cookies.
3. Vick reported that Alicia's ashes will be placed in the last crypt in the Conrad Memorial
Cemetery.
August Board Meeting to be announced.
