TAC meeting - south side by-passDoug
I was wondering about the possibility of having a Kalispell TAC meeting in the near future, possibly to coincide with the bid award (shortly thereafter) for the by-pass up here in Kalispell.
The by-pass is a big project and TAC has been working on it for 15 years. Some people in the community still do not believe the south half will be built in the next year. TAC has
not met for a year and an update would be great. While we probably will not be making any decisions or recommendations at such a meeting, the TAC and the community are interested
in:
Timing of major construction activities
construction issues and challenges the contractor will face
last minute design changes (i.e. round about at Siderius, which TAC has not seen)
construction traffic impacts, road intersection closures (i.e. airport road, Foys Lake Road, US 93 at Gardner's and US 2) - haul routes, noise,
Economic impacts (size of bid packages, number of construction employees, local or out of state jobs,)
What is the timing for construction activies at US 2 (separate bid and construction project?)
possibility of funding for the north half
status of the north half RW and design efforts
Any design challenges, pending changes, issues, etc. encountered on north half
status of the Hutton Ranch Road and the Reserve connection behind Home Depot and Target
While you may have little hard information about some of these issues, a big picture view of what is anticipated would be great and the PR would be good as well.
What are your thoughts. We typically meet on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon from 1:30 -3:30 and try to give every one about 30 days notice to get it on their calendar.
Also helps the MDT people and the consultants schedule around being in Kalispell.
