RE: SPAM-HIGH: Trouble in the city!
Bailey:
Thanks for the concern. Our airport got used as a political football
over the last six months. We will have to wait and see how the new
mayor and new council members fee about airports. It is clear that they
are not up to speed on the benefits of a GA airport like ours. They are
listening to the few people who don't like airports and airplanes right
now. We have been told to put the airport on the back burner for now.
It is a sad situation since the previous mayor and council spent the
last 10 years trying to upgrade the airport and was just about there
when these new people came on board. The radio station has declared
bankruptcy and we were so close to receiving AIP funding for the upgrade
of the airport. I won't give up on it yet. Thanks for the offer on the
video's. I will let you know. What we do need is some help from AOPA
to give us data about safety of aviation compared to driving a car or
walking down the street.
Later, Thanks

Hello Fred,
I have been following your airport project there as close as possible
but it is hard to get fair and equal time for your side. Is there
anything that I can do that might be of help. I can write for the
MTCAA as we are not actually organized yet so what I say goes! It is
a shame that someone does not come in stronger with a pitch that show
how "all" the community benefits from a local airport. I have a box of
those AOPA video's called "LOCAL AIRPORTS, Access to America" I'm
sure you have seen it and could probably right one like it. I use it
occasionally as a thought provoker just to recall some of the things
that are so important about GA airports.
Hang in there my friend I'm sure you will prevail!
Best Regards,
Bailey
