Dear Kalispell City Council Members,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the proposed 108% salary increase. I support providing fair
and competitive compensation for public officials, and I have no objection to reasonable salary
increases. However, a 108% increase is simply too much at one time.
A more gradual, phased approach would be far more appropriate and would demonstrate fiscal
responsibility while still recognizing the value of public service.
At a time when Kalispell property owners continue to face significant property tax burdens, approving
such a substantial increase places yet another financial obligation on local taxpayers. I urge the Council
to reconsider this proposal and adopt a more measured approach that balances fair compensation with
the realities facing the citizens who fund our local government.
