Do you mind if I follow up directly with Merry Lee Olson? The Kalispell
tourism business improvement district wants to conduct a branding
campaign early on. This work would involve everyone on your cc list as
well as Whitefish, Glacier Country and perhaps others.
Joe

Kathryn - your email contact was provided by Mickey Lapp of Mayor
Fisher's office. Our inquiry is relative to Flathead Valley tourism
promotion connected to the Glacier Park Centennial.
We are tourism and business development specialists with offices in
Billings and San Diego. We've been the creators and directors of tourism
promotion in California and Montana and received a governor's
commendation for tourism promotion here in Montana. A one-page summary
about our firm is attached.
We've been following the Glacier Centennial and discussing how the
Flathead communities would leverage this opportunity. Seems you all
wonder about that too . based on Mayor Fisher's comments at the Flathead
Economic Summit last week
We have a proposal we'd like to present: a visibility/awareness
building program under an umbrella tourism brand for the Flathead
Valley. It integrates a tourism promotion brand specific to the Flathead
Valley and the Centennial, a national/ international media relations
campaign, an advertising campaign, a visibility project at the airport,
a community visibility program, rack cards and other promotional
activities outside of the area and a fun public event to create interest
and involvement.
We know how to create tourism-promotion cooperatives that incorporate
Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Chambers, communities, hospitality and
lodging companies, private enterprise, etc., so we can work with the
most pertinent parties to get something rolling right away. And time
really is of the essence here. Flathead Valley is a year behind the
curve on this.
Our questions are:
. Do you think there is a Valley-wide interest in having such a
program?
. Who can bring local leadership to the endeavor, inviting the
right people to the table to discuss and decide?
. How quickly can such a group be assembled? (We can set up a
web call so no one has to drive to a meeting).
. If you are not the best conduit for this, who do you suggest
we contact?
We hope we can help make a vital difference for the communities and the
enterprises in Flathead Valley. Your time and assistance are greatly
appreciated!
