416 6th Ave w Public Comment from Diane Stephens® Outlook EXTERNAL 416 6th Ave w Kalispell From Diana Stephens <stephensd072013@yahoo.com> Date Sun 7/19/2026 7:08 PM To Kalispell Meetings Public Comment <publiccomment@kalispell.com>; Kalispell City Council <citycouncil@kalispell.com> Mayor, City Council, City Manager, I'm wanting to share a neighborhood concern at the above address. This has been a conversation amongst many of the alleyway dog walking neighbors. This home in the alley has been left in an unsafe, hazardous and highly unattractive condition for over a year. The weeds are growing and camouflage some of the true nature of the enormity of the garbage pile. I'm really hopeful that these weeds with their seeds stay out of my yard, which is directly across from them. As garbage piles do it has begun to attract other garbage and has become a trash heel. It is the casual toss it on the pile strolling by, but the items are now becoming large, those that should be hauled to the landfill. I'm unsure about vermin, but the pile is such that if I were mice, I would find it quite attractive. I believe this pile will become many more problems than just an unsightly menace. I am unsure of the all details of why this is being allowed. It is apparent the owner is ignoring or just remiss about neighborhood responsibility. And since there's no way to occupy the property, I guess out of sight out of mind, however, not so easy for the people who have to live around it. As homeowners, we're paying our taxes and want to take good care of our properties and be neighborly. It seems this owner will not take responsibility for their property, we the neighbors have little ability to address this with them. As neighbors, we have no authority and should not have to take responsibility to ensure reasonable cleanliness amongst the homes in our neighborhood. This is the responsibility of the City Manager, City Council, and City Mayor. The neighborhood is following the rules doing the best we can to take good care of our properties and paying our taxes. I ask you to help the neighbors and myself to have a safer neighborhood by ensuring that this garbage pile is not allowed to continue.
