Thank you for the comments which I'll provide additional details to. Our apologies for not
being able to accurately convey onsite yesterday but our staff were focused on the traffic
control measures and keeping everyone safe.
Grandview Wells are located adjacent to the Ponderosa subdivision. In 2021 Grandview
Wells detected emerging contaminants (PFAS) in the source water. A PFAS treatment
system has since been installed and operational since fall of 2024. During startup
procedures in 2026, staff incurred an operational anomaly that has required more frequent
flushing than normal. While not weekly, so far this year Grandview Wells have been flushed
on 6 different occasions (4/24, 4/28, 5/5, 5/19, 6/10 and 7/6).
It's important to note that the flushed water was treated prior to being conveyed onto the
roadway. The purpose of yesterday's flushing event was to administer a set of PFAS samples
to confirm our operational anomaly has been corrected. We anticipate that once we receive
the analytical results of the sampling event, the facility can be placed into service. After
which time, flushing events will become less frequent. Additionally, the water was conveyed
into the stormwater conveyance system that is located entirely within the public Right of
Way. No private property was affected by the flushing event(s).
Again, our apologies if the above explanation didn't get conveyed by our staff effectively, it
was a busy worksite with a lot of actions and interactions occurring at the same time.

Hi. My name is Cecelia (Fetveit) Davison. I was visiting my
Grandma who lives on Ponderosa St in Kalispell right next
to FVCC. A loud rushing water sound began and my
Grandma explained to me that it happens as least once a
week for hours at a time and has been happening for
months. It was loud and completely flooded the ditch and
her backyard. I have attached a video and a photo below.
Upon further conversation with the workers onsite I was
told that it was a purge of unclean water from the water
treatment facility. My Grandma is now worried about this
unclean water that has been continuously dumped right
next to her house and also right in front of the community
garden.
We are concerned on a couple of different levels on this. I
am not typically the type of person to reach out with
concerns, but it does really feel like this is effecting the
neighborhood. I appreciate your time and any information
you can provide.
