A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF KALISPELL TO
THE MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE WITH A REQUEST FOR A
RECOMMENDATION TO BE FORWARDED TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR
REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE CREATION OF AN OPPORTUNITY ZONE FOR
CENSUS TRACT 30029001000 IN THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell has the opportunity to apply to the Montana Department of
Commerce with a request for a recommendation to be forwarded to the Governor's
Office for review and approval of the creation of an Opportunity Zone for Census Tract
30029001000 for the purposes of strategic investment and economic development in the
Core/Downtown areas of the City of Kalispell; and
WHEREAS, by utilizing multiple sources to secure capital for redevelopment projects, private
investment can be leveraged to generate the resources necessary to bring various
economic development projects to life; and
WHEREAS, designation as an Opportunity Zone will accelerate a coordinated, multi -partner effort
already underway to revitalize Kalispell's downtown core, unlock private capital, and
strengthen Northwest Montana's regional economic hub.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Kalispell supports the application for the creation of an
Opportunity Zone for Census Tract 30029001000.
SECTION 2. That the City of Kalispell requests that the Montana Department of Commerce
forward the Opportunity Zone Application to the Governor's Office for review
and approval for the awarding of the designation of an Opportunity Zone for
Census Tract 30029001000 in the Core/Downtown Area of the City of Kalispell.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF THE
CITY OF KALISPELL, THIS 6TH DAY OF JULY, 2026.
