Hey Council,
I'm listening to your work session online and just wanted to add a couple of remarks. We do have more and
more dangerous and aggressive driving in our home these days, it's a community wide problem. To target
cruising main, which is people out enjoying their Friday night going through the heart of our metropolitan area
is a little ridiculous. Some of this reminds me of when people who lived downtown tried to shut down the City
Airport because they didn't like airplanes flying around. If you choose to live near the downtown of any town
there will be more noise and more commotion. My street of West Evergreen Drive is just as loud and reckless
and I live in a residential area with churches and schools around me. The answer is to enforce the law when it
is blatantly broken and to have more safety measures. More signs that digitally display the speed limit and
alerts drivers to slowdown. Use signage that warns a driver who may not be following the law like speed
checked by radar. There are simple measures that need to be implemented community wide to address these
problems. You spoke of decibel levels, the loudest car you will hear is one that is missing it's muffler, often
times these are people that cannot afford a new muffler. Start a fund to help people replace broken or
missing mufflers, that could be offered at time of citation. Lastly, I appreciate all efforts by Law Enforcement
to help keep our community safe and they need to continue doing more. I do question some of the use of
resources and responses when it comes to dispatch and crimes. It seems like 3 - 5 response vehicles speed
through town and show up for almost every call. Often times it's for a minor situation involving 1 or 2
people. I'm sure there is a need for multiple units to show up at some events, just thinking resources could be
spread out more to control things like dangerous drivers. My thoughts, thank you and keep up the good work.
