Work that needs to be done at the airport under Option 1, Do Nothing (6)Wade:
The following projects will need to be done under the first Option the
Council requested:
. Overlay 2" on the main runway, 3,600' X 60'
. Restripe the numbers and markings after the overlay.
. Widen the old taxiways from 20' to 25', grind off the asphalt
and overlay the new width.
. Restripe the taxiways and hold short markings.
. Fog Seal the 2005 installation of ramp and taxiways.
. Restripe the ramp and taxiways.
. Repair drainage culverts around the current runway before
resurfacing.
. Install new lighting system on the main runway.
. Install security fencing around areas that have no fencing.
The Council needs to be made aware of the liability of not having clean
runway protection zones at both ends of the runway. Stelling Engineers
has agreed to give us an estimate to complete these projects. It would
be worth what we would be paying for it. But, in the ball park. The
Council needs to be aware, as I think they are, that no federal dollars
can be allocated to this option as well as no annual maintenance money
from the FAA.
Option 2, of pushing the runway south to accommodate the runway safety
zones will require some purchase of land from Doug Miller and Doug Wise,
plus the Monk property. This will solve the RPZ problem, but will not
satisfy the side safety zones or other FAA standards. Again, there
would not be any federal dollars available and no reimbursements
available with this option.
