A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN AWARD FROM THE MONTANA DISASTER AND
EMERGENCY SERVICES RESILIENCY FUND GRANT TO FUND THE PURCHASE
AND INSTALLATION OF A PERMANENT BACKUP GENERATOR FOR THE CITY
OF KALISPELL PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell Public Safety Building houses both the Kalispell Police
Department and Kalispell Fire Department and functions as a critical operations
center for emergency response, incident command, communications, and
continuity of essential public safety services during disasters and emergencies; and
WHEREAS, in response to a Montana Disaster & Emergency Services Notice of Funding
Opportunity, the city submitted and was awarded a grant of $284,075.00 through
the State Resiliency Fund grant program for 2026 for the purchase and installation
of a backup generator at the Public Safety Building; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell would be required to match 25% of the cost, or $94,692; and
WHEREAS, the purchase and installation of a permanent backup generator for the building
would mitigate the impact of power outages and is necessary for full police and fire
capacity during emergencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Kalispell City Council accepts the award and obligates the funds for a
Montana DES Resiliency Fund grant in order to purchase and install a
backup generator at the Public Safety Building.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF
THE CITY OF KALISPELL, THIS 15TH DAY OF JUNE, 2026.
