I understand from the Daily Interlake that you are contemplating installation of sites for anonymous
surrender of babies atone or more fire stations. I don't feel that is a priority use of public funds. I have
doubts whether such a site would get any use. In my opinion it would not merit the $ for installation and
maintenance plus the costs to respond to any use.
For councilor Daoud to say that it's worth the investment basically if it ever gets used, is an expression of
his personal values, but not necessarily a sound use of public funding. If there is actually a need
identified for this in our community, I think use of exclusively private funding or grants is appropriate. I
would also suggest that the central location of Logan hospital is more appropriate than a city fire station.
They would have 24/7 medical staff able to respond to any actual use. With all the other needs in our
community, I do not think this is in anyway a priority for public funds.
Please don't use city time and energy on this dubious need.
Thanks for your consideration.
