Growing popularity of E-Moto "E-bikes Public Comment from Aaron YoungAimee Brunckhorst From: Aaron Young <younginayo@gmail.com> Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2026 11:51 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Growing popularity of E-Moto "E-bikes" Hey All, I recently saw some juveniles (not delinquents, yet) riding these new popular a-motos through the east side neighborhood of Kalispell. Both the juniors were riding on the roads, both not wearing helmets, both appeared under legal driving age and were riding like they had little to no knowledge of proper bicycle safety / etiquette. My concerns are: A) These are kind of new and seem to be growing significantly in popularity, I'm not sure they are on radars quite yet. B) The legality of riding these vehicles on public streets & the danger to the rider / motorist. C) Similar to point B, except on city Paths and Trails. Class 1 & 2 e-bikes legally max out at 20mph before a governor kills power assists to the motor. It sounds like many these "e-motos" do not. Here is a helpful article for more information on these: https://www.peopleforbikes.org/news/the-e-bike-problem-is-an-a-moto-problem Thankyou, Aaron Young
