Traffic Safety Concerns on College Ave Public Comment from Michelle Root Aimee Brunckhorst From: Michelle Root <michelle@mtmontessori.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 9:43 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Traffic Safety Concerns on College Ave May 13, 2026 Dear City of Kalispell Officials, My name is Michelle Root, and I am the Administrator at Woodland Montessori School, located at 5 Park Hill Road off College Avenue. I am writing to express concern about the increased traffic volume and speeding on College Avenue due to the current water main construction detour at 2nd St. East/Conrad Dr. These conditions have created significant safety concerns, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times, as well as throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. Many of our families live on the east side of Kalispell and walk or bike to school daily, making traffic speed and driver awareness especially important. I appreciate the city's recent efforts, including the reader board and increased police presence during peak hours. I would also like to request consideration of additional safety measures, such as clearly marked school zone signs or"Slow, Children Present" signage,to encourage drivers to reduce speed and remain alert. Looking ahead, I hope the city will proactively consider safety measures and traffic mitigation strategies during the planned roundabout project to help minimize disruption and prioritize the safety of students, families, and nearby residents. Thankyou foryour attention to this matter and foryour continued efforts to keep Kalispell families safe. Sincerely, Michelle Root Administrator Woodland Montessori School— Montana Montessori Teacher Education Institute PH:(406)755-3824 Fax:(406)755-7234 5 Park Hill Rd. Kalispell, MT, 59901 i
