Concerned Citizen Public Comment from Branden Doiron Aimee Brunckhorst From: Branden Doiron <brandendoiron@icloud.com> Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2026 8:44 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Concerned Citizen I am writing to formally request immediate action regarding the dangerous traffic conditions on Appleway Drive. Appleway Drive is a quarter-mile residential road located between North Meridian Road and Highway 2 West. Along this short stretch are four large apartment complexes and seven residential homes. Due to the size of the apartment complexes, there is a significantly higher number of children living on this street than on a typical residential road. For that reason, Appleway Drive is posted with a 25 m.p.h. speed limit because of the heavy foot traffic and the presence of so many children. Over the last several years, drivers have learned they can use Appleway Drive as a shortcut to avoid the major intersection near Albertsons. Because the road is relatively straight and level, many motorists now speed through it, and some have even begun racing cars and motorcycles up and down the street. The reckless driving has become so constant that I do not feel safe allowing my teenage daughter to even walk to our mailbox. Many of my neighbors have expressed the same concern. Residents have repeatedly called the police, filed reports, and submitted numerous online complaints to the Kalispell Police Department. Unfortunately, the response has not been effective. On multiple occasions, a patrol car has arrived, remained only briefly to monitor traffic, and then left. This has done nothing to deter the ongoing speeding and racing. I have personally recorded numerous videos over the last year documenting this dangerous behavior, yet the problem continues. I am therefore formally requesting that your office take meaningful action by installing two speed bumps on Appleway Drive. The cost of such a measure is minor compared to the potential consequence of a child being seriously injured or killed simply for playing outside or walking near their home. Thank you for your time and consideration of this urgent safety matter. I respectfully ask that this issue be addressed before a preventable tragedy occurs. Branden S. Doiron 2
