Subject: EXTERNAL Concerns Regarding Mr. Hunter's Refusal to Recuse
My name is Rose Askvig. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding Mayor Hunter's refusal
to recuse himself from the "Land Use Plan"vote, despite a thorough briefing and recommendation
to do so from our City Attorney.
When the City Attorney advises recusal, it is to protect the City from potential lawsuits, ethical
violations,and to ensure fairness. By choosing to ignore this wise counsel,the Mayor has chosen
his personal agenda over his public duty creating a violation of public trust.This action risks
polluting the integrity of the vote on the "Land Use Plan" and suggests a disregard for established
municipal ethics.
Transparency is foundational to local government. I look forward to your response on how Council
will address this breach of ethical protocol.
