Subject: ATTN: Mayor
I emailed you during your campaign about the city airport. For the most
part the locals have begun a practice of flying out around the radio
towers. 3 years running now I have complained to the FAA, the Airport
Manager, the appointed safety officers, etc. about the yearly visit of
the "cropduster" who contracts to Cenex to spray fields, along with
other careless pilots. This idiot, for lack of a better description,
flies over at treetop level fully loaded with hazardous materials. He
could fly around the housing areas but chooses to fly directly over
beginning sometimes around 5 AM. This plane is not only dangerous but
extremely noisy. Fred Leistiko has promised to do something and just
somehow never gets around to it. He was going to get the tail number
this year, but shucks! He left town before he could get it. Been here
two weeks, but nobody got a tail number. If it were up to me the place
would be dozed flat tomorrow. Somebody like this guy will end up nose
down in a neighborhood splashing pesticides everywhere, not to mention
who he might terminate with his plane, and not a single excuse will
suffice for it. The "Old Days" are gone along with the buffalo etc.
The time has come for the City Airport to either clean up its act or get
out altogether. And get a responsible manager who does something
besides collect a paycheck. Thanks, Tom Read 29 Lower Valley Rd.
