Dear Fellow Citizens,
I'm voicing my concerns about the proposal to re-do Main Street.
For starts, for the amount of traffic on Main to be funneled from 4 lanes to 2 will absolutely cause
traffic to come to a near standstill in my opinion. We had two lanes before and it wasn't working so
we converted to 4 lanes.
In regards to widening the sidewalks, in my opinion they are wide enough. I've been on plenty of"
strolls"where there are more pedestrians than at any other time and it just isn't necessary or of any
real value. I believe a better parking solution would do more for small businesses on Main Street
than wider sidewalks.
Finally I'd like to address the proposed turning lanes. Most of the side streets are currently closed
to left turns. I understand this can be very inconvenient. Can we replace the current signals with
timed left turn arrows?Would this be a less costly option?
Thanks for your attention to this matter,
Roberta Reese
