The City of Kalispell Announces Finalist for
City Manager Position
Kalispell, Montana – November 26, 2025 — The City of Kalispell has selected internal candidate,
Jarod Nygren to proceed through an interview process for the open City Manager position.
Jarod Nygren has been employed by the City of Kalispell for nearly eleven years and is currently the
Interim City Manager and Development Services Department Director. As Interim City Manager,
Jarod acts as the chief administrator implementing Council initiatives. The City has 244 full-time
employees and an 180-million-dollar budget. As the Development Services Department Director,
Jarod has overseen an average of 150 million in new construction in the last five years and is well
known to the community. He has a master’s degree in public administration and an undergraduate
degree in public administration and city planning and is a member of the American Planning
Association and is certified through the AICP.
Interviews including a community panel, director panel, and final interview with the Mayor and
Council are scheduled for December 3, 2025. The community is invited to share public feedback by
emailing publiccomment@kalispell.com, or delivering comments to the City Clerk, at 201 First Avenue
East. The Mayor and City Council will consider community input, along with feedback from the
directors and community panel. If the candidate and Council would like to proceed further, a public
open house will be scheduled with a final decision to be voted upon at a future open council meeting.
The finalist selection follows an extensive recruitment process conducted by GMP Consultants, a
public-sector executive search firm. After a thorough review of the applicant pool provided by GMP,
the internal applicant was identified as a highly qualified candidate to advance in the process. Several
other applicants were also invited to interview but declined.
