City of Kalispell Hires Jarod Nygren as City Manager
Kalispell, Montana—December 16, 2025 - The City of Kalispell is pleased to announce that the
City Council unanimously approved an employment agreement with Jarod Nygren to become
Kalispell's new City Manager. After careful review of applicants by Council, a three-panel
interview process, and an open house for the public to weigh in, Council determined that Mr.
Nygren was the best candidate to lead the organization moving forward.
Mr. Nygren has served the City for eleven years, most recently as Interim City Manager and
Development Services Director. "I have complete confidence in Jarod. His ongoing involvement
and leadership on issues and major projects within the community and his creativity in
addressing challenges bring great value. I look forward to working with him in the future," said
Mayor-elect Ryan Hunter. At the December 15, council meeting, Council Member Graham and
Mayor Johnson also offered their full support and talked about how impressed they are with his
abilities.
"Thank you for the trust you have instilled in me. I am in this position because of the guidance
and leadership I have seen from you. I look forward to working with future council as well," said
Nygren. At the open house last week, he explained, "Being available and open to the public is
important to me," and talked about the success of the position being dependent on a strong
partnership between city staff, elected officials, and people within the community.
Mr. Nygren assumed the role of City Manager effective immediately.
