Hello,
My name is James siebenthaler, and I'm a Kalispell resident who cares deeply about our
community, its culture, and its growth. I'm writing because I believe there is a real opportunity for
Kalispell to bring back something we've lost — and to solve several ongoing issues at the same
time.
As you likely know, since Montana Raceway Park closed in 2020, our valley hasn't had a designated
space for motorsports. Yet Kalispell is, and always has been, a car town. Cruise Nights, local
shows, and our growing population have made it clear that motorsports are still a major part of our
identity.
I want to share an idea:
the development of a new multi -use motorsports facility on the open land just past downtown,
across the bypass near Wishers Auto Recycling. There is significant available land there, it's
outside major residential areas, and it already fits the industrial character of the surroundings.
A facility like this could include a small oval or road course, a safe drag strip, and open space for
driving events. It wouldn't need to be large or expensive to make a difference —just a controlled,
dedicated space for the activities that currently spill onto public streets.
Here's why I think this matters:
It gives local drivers a safe, legal alternative to street racing, reducing late -night issues downtown
and around the valley.
It supports tourism and local business, especially during the summer.
It strengthens community culture, giving families, young adults, and car enthusiasts a place to
gather.
It reduces police workload, especially during busy nights when informal racing and large cruise
gatherings occur.
It uses land that is already suitable for noise -generating activity, minimizing neighborhood conflict.
I know this isn't a small project, but Kalispell is growing fast, and I believe a facility like this would
genuinely benefit the community long-term. I would be happy to share a rough layout idea or
continue a conversation if anyone is interested in what this could look like.

us build things that fit who we truly are.
