Ward 3 Council Member Vacancy
Kalispell, MT—December 10, 2025—The City of Kalispell is seeking letters of interest from
residents of Ward 3 to fill a City Council position that will become vacant in January 2026, as
City Council Member Ryan Hunter starts his elected term as Mayor.
The Mayor and City Council will review submissions and appoint a Ward 3 Council Member to
serve for the remainder of the two-year term in January 2026. This is a unique opportunity to
engage with local government and help shape the future of Kalispell.
Kalispell Ward 3 residents interested in serving as a nonpartisan Council Member are asked to
submit a letter of interest that includes at a minimum:
• Name
• Address
• Contact Phone and Email
• Relevant Experience
• A brief explanation of why you are interested in the position
• Signature
Per state law, candidates must be a citizen of the United States and residency must be established
within Ward 3 for a minimum of 60 days. Please refer to the map included of Ward 3.
City Council meets most Mondays at 7 p.m. Candidate must be regularly available for Council
meetings, and other occasional meetings as needed, and should expect to spend time reviewing
materials weekly. Applications are a public record and will be publicly viewed.
