Subject: EXTERNAL Public Comment - Jarod Nygren
I am writing to express my strong support for appointing Jarod Nygren as the next City
Manager for the City of Kalispell. Jarod is the right choice for this position. He has a long
career ahead of him, deep roots in our community, and a genuine commitment to the
people who live and work here. As a homeowner in the city and a father raising his
family in the Flathead Valley, he understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities
facing Kalispell.
I had the privilege of working closely with Jarod for nearly a decade, both alongside him
and as his direct subordinate. During that time, I saw firsthand the level of care he
showed for this community, his coworkers, and the organization as a whole. Jarod has
always been a strong supporter of family, and he consistently encouraged his employees
to prioritize their families first—something that speaks to both his leadership style and
his character.
If chosen as City Manager, I have full confidence that Jarod will lead with integrity,
vision, and a genuine desire to make Kalispell a great place to work and raise a family.
As a younger leader raising his children here, he sees clearly the hurdles facing today's
families and workforce. I believe he has the insight and drive to help Kalispell become a
more family-friendly city.
In particular, I hope the City will consider expanding hybrid work opportunities—an idea
that was previously discouraged but is increasingly essential for employee retention and
work-life balance. I would also love to see Kalispell mirror the successful approach taken
by the City of Whitefish by offering free or low-cost after-school and summer childcare
options for City employees. These types of family-supportive policies strengthen
recruitment, improve retention, and demonstrate a sincere investment in the people who
keep our city running.
Although I no longer work for the City of Kalispell, I know without hesitation that with
Jarod Nygren at the helm, the City will be in excellent hands. His leadership will not
disappoint.
