SUBJECT: Bid Recommendation Tandem Axle Truck Chassis with 12-yard Asphalt Dump
Box and Plow.
MEETING: October 20, 2025
BACKGROUND: As part of the FY26 budget, the Street Division has allocated funds to
purchase a new tandem axle truck. This investment will replace the current 19-year-old 12-yard
dump truck, which has become increasingly costly to maintain due to frequent mechanical
issues. Replacing this aged equipment will help improve reliability and efficiency in our street
maintenance operations.
The procurement scope included the purchase of one new Tandem Axle Truck Chassis with 12-
yard Asphalt Dump Box and Plow. Bids were opened on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Out of the two (2) prospective companies who obtained bid packets two (2) responsive bids were
received as listed below.

The bid received by Missoula IState Truck Center met the minimum acceptable specifications,
provided the lowest purchase price, and was within the allocated budget amount.
ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to award the bid for a new Tandem Axle Truck Chassis with
12-yard Asphalt Dump Box and Plow to Missoula IState Truck Center in the amount of
$239,995.00.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The purchase of the new Tandem Axle Truck Chassis with 12-yard
Asphalt Dump Box and Plow will be funded by the Special Street Fund line item 2500-421-
430245-940: Machinery & Equipment: Tandem Axle 12 Yard Dump Truck with I F Plow.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by the City Council.
