Ordinance 1942 - Amends KMC Ch 17, ParkingORDINANCE NO. 1942
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING KALISPELL MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER 17,
ARTICLE 4, STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING GENERALLY, BY AMENDING
SECTION 17-82, PARKING SPACES FOR TAXICABS, BUSES AND DELIVERY
VEHICLES, AND SECTION 17-90, OVERTIME PARKING PROHIBITED,
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO CODIFY THE SAME.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City and its residents and visitors that its ordinances
be reassessed and updated from time to time to ensure that the interests of the public
are being properly served; and
WHEREAS, during a work session requested by School District 5 regarding temporary parking
during a lengthy construction project across the street from a school, proposed
amendments were suggested to KMC Chapter 17, Section 17-82, Parking Spaces
for Taxicabs, Buses and Delivery Vehicles, and Section 17-90, Overtime Parking
Prohibited; and
WHEREAS, the Kalispell City Council finds that the amendments to KMC Chapter 17, Section
17-82 and 17-90, as set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto, are necessary and
proper to respond effectively to schools requesting short term parking options.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Kalispell Municipal Code, Chapter 17, Sections 17-82 and 17-
90, is hereby amended as set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and
incorporated fully herein by this reference.
SECTION 2. The City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to codify this
Ordinance.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its final passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF
THE CITY OF KALISPELL THIS 20TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2025.

Article 4, Stopping, Standing and Parking Generally
§ 17-82 Parking Spaces for Taxicabs, Buses and Delivery Vehicles; Permits for; Unlawful Use
Prohibited
Permit: The City may grant to any person, K-12 school, agency or business a permit for the
permanent use of a reserved parking space on a public street or City owned or operated off-
street parking lot for use of a taxicab, bus, delivery vehicle or similar commercial vehicle or
device used for the transportation of persons or property. The City may grant ant 2
school a permit for loading areas and/or short-term parking.
§ 17-90 Overtime Parking Prohibited; Two Hour Parking on Certain Streets.
