RE: Website Update - Departmental RequirementsErika:
As far as the airport web site is concerned, all I need to do is change
some of the verbage on a couple sentences.

Please prepare your department website requirements and send those to me
by Friday June 4th. Please send the requirements in a Word document.
Define anything you want included in your departments specific pages or
items you want to see in other sections of the website. A few
departments have provided requirements already, thank you. After the
requirement documents have been reviewed, meetings will be held with
each department to discuss the feasibility of the requirements.

Subject: Website Redesign Committee & Update
I have been working on the website redesign project recently. As
discussed at this week's staff meeting I am working with the Flathead
County IT Director, Vicki Saxby on an Inter Local Agreement for the
City's website redesign project. The website content and departmental
requirements will be gathered by myself and this newly created website
redesign committee. What I ask of each of you is a member from your
staff to be on the committee to define the needs although some
departments are small where this is not feasible, but contribution will
be needed to define the needs of all departments. Defining as much
detail from the start will allow the redesign project to go smoother.
The estimate to complete the website redesign is 6 months. The website
design is not included, but could be happen at the same time. I
understand the time expected to complete this project may be longer than
desirable, but it is a great opportunity to utilize resources at the
County that the City simply doesn't have with a one person IT department
and also allow the public to participate in the project, website design
only. Since the web developer at the County would still have County
work to do, the duration of the project would be longer than if we would
hire a company outright.
The intention is to have a website design contest open to the public
allowing the established website redesign committee to decide on the
winner, with additional leverage from myself.
I have been working with Jane on the project for some time now and today
we came up with the idea to create a website task force with other
technical & PR members from the community that are not web developers or
businesses that offer web services to discuss and determine the
feasibility of the redesign contest. As stated earlier this is the
intent I have on how to handle the website redesign, but more details
will be determined with the discussions of the website task force.
I meet with Vicki next Wednesday, May 5th to review the Inter Local
agreement draft and have the first formal meeting after receiving the
County's response to the website redesign project specifications.
Please respond with names of people that can participate on the website
redesign committee so I can start the process of setting up the first
meeting. I would ask for response by May 7th if possible.
