New e-NOTAM Data Retention PolicyAttention e-NOTAM User: New e-NOTAM Data Retention Policy
e-NOTAM currently keeps information on every NOTAM you have submitted
using the e-NOTAM system. Starting June 30, this will no longer be the
case. We will be implemting a new data retention policy in order to
ensure our system stays responsive. The details of the new policy are as
follows:
* e-NOTAM data will be retained on a rolling 15 month basis. This
means we will be keeping the last 15 months worth of NOTAM data.
* On the last day of each month, we will delete any NOTAM older
than 15 months from our system.
* Only NOTAMs that are older than 15 months and have a status of
Canceled, Self Canceled, Rejected, or CancelRejected will be deleted
from the system. This means that if there is an active NOTAM that is
older than 15 months it will NOT be deleted.
* NOTAMs that are currently set as a Favorite NOTAM will NOT be
deleted.
* We will send you an email in the middle of each month reminding
you that we will be deleting NOTAMs at the end of the month.
Why are we deleting NOTAM data?
One of the reasons we are no longer keeping all submitted NOTAMs is due
to FAR 139.339. This regulation mandates that only 12 months of airport
condition information needs to be retained by an airport. We have chosen
to have our system store 15 months of data.
The other reason is to help keep our system working optimally. The extra
data slows down the system response time.
What can you do to save the NOTAM data?
Some of you may wish to retain the information that is going to be
deleted.
