Diamond Aire Gates at the AirportTodd:
I looked at the gate situation yesterday with Mild Fence and we came up
with a solution. There are two rolling gates, (one on each side, 24'
long) to deal with. Because of the size of each gate (24') we could add
6' to each side and have two 30' rolling gates. These would be clumsy
to handle and might take two people to move, but it will give us a 60'
wide opening. Please remember our main runway is only 60' wide and we
never have aircraft landing at this airport that have a wing span that
wide. Also, the FAA approved taxiways that run to Diamond Aire are only
25' wide with 27' aprons in front of the hangars along the taxiway. So
this is more than adequate for any possible clients Diamond Aire might
have. Also, we will be putting new tires on these gates so they can be
rolled closed at the close of business each day to secure that portion
of the security fence. How do you intend on addressing the following:
1. Will the gate be secured each night or will the City have to
secure them?
2. Since they don't have enough room for aircraft to park at their
facility, will they be leasing ramp space from the City in front of
their facility?
3. Will Diamond Aire be paying anything for this access to a
public facility? The airport has five paying commercial clients that
are watching to see if Diamond Aire has to pay for access. I can't
afford them jumping ship or refusing to pay their fees over this.
4. Will they be selling fuel again? Is the fuel facility up and
operational?
This is going to be a $2,000 expenditure, so I would like to know when
you recommend I order the work done.
Please advise,
