MEMORANDUM

Re: Identifying Sub -committee for City Manager Recruitment
Meeting Date: July 7, 2025
BACKGROUND: The City Manager is selected and employed by the City Council. As this
position will be vacant on August 21, 2025, it is recommended that Council begin the process of
recruitment and selection of the next City Manager.
It is recommended that Council engage a process by identifying a subcommittee of four members
of the Council that can meet between regular Council meetings in order to facilitate the process
and make recommendations to the Council as a whole.
Initial activities that would be considered include:
Identifying and recommending an interim City Manager
Consideration and/or recommendation of a recruitment firm that specializes in City
Manager recruitment
Should Council select a recruitment firm, this committee would then work with the recruiter to
facilitate the process, including, but limited to: identifying a timeline, approving the recruitment
brochure, establishing the hiring process (including potential interview panels), review of initial
candidates, etc.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact with the selection of the committee.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council identify a Council sub-
committee for City Manager Recruitment.
