Fred,
I didn't know that and will check it out.
We have been taking pictures at different locations to find spots that
work well for the cameras. The windcone behind Rosauers will not pickup
runway traffic; only taxiway traffic. I have a camera on one of the
signs right now and will see how that works. Ideally I would like to
have a camera taking photos on each runway end to get good
representation. We may need to install a frangible pole just outside of
the RSA to get the right locations. Do you have any frangible poles we
could use?

Did you know there is a webcam on top of the sign at Scotty's Bar. You
can pick it up on the State system.

Fred,
I attached a motion sensing camera to the windsock pole behind Rosauers.
We are going to play around with the location of this camera over the
next couple days to try and identify the best locations for
photographing runway operations. Once we figure this out, I have two
cameras that we will have in operation. The whole purpose of this
effort is to identify the critical aircraft. So we will just be
documenting twins, larger aircraft, helicopters, and special aircraft
(gliders).

Yes they are, maybe we will have to count all sounds as an operation
regardless if they exceed the 65 dB we are looking for on the noise
study. You might ask the acoustical counter people if it will count all
engine noises and then we would have both the movements and the noise
levels.

Once we start counting with the acoustical counter (AC), we will want to
document as many visible operations as we can. I'm not sure how the AC
would count the observations you witnessed. I believe the AC will count
an operation for each acoustical reading it records that exceeds a
certain dB threshold. We will have to explore the settings of the AC to
see if there is a method to get the instrument to record multiple
operations of this type. This may be one of the areas that we need to
supplement with additional information. One idea is to request that the
helicopter operators document these operations. I am assuming that
these type of touch and goes are performed by based aircraft?

Jeff:
The gate code is 12280, use all five figures. The gate opens at 8 AM
and closes at 5 PM on the weekdays. It is closed on all weekends. Jane
and I were at the airport for a meeting today and we watched a
helicopter doing touch and goes from the middle of the runway. We
counted six operations in five minutes and I wondered how we could get
those six operations counted with the counters at both ends of the
runway. Any ideas how we can cover all this.

Fred,
I would like to scout out suitable locations for the acoustical counters
and cameras at the airport. Do I have your permission to access the
airport? Is the gate code 1228?
Thanks
