Kalispell City Council:
I am writing to express my opposition to reducing Main Street to two lanes. Given the projected growth of
our valley and the proposed changes to the Kalispell Mall, patronage of that area will undoubtedly
increase. It's simply makes no sense to attract more customers to an area that cannot sustain the level
of traffic associated with the growth. Add to that a new independent living facility and multiple apartment
complexes, along with growth in Lakeside, Somers/south valley, and North Valley, one can predict the
downtown becoming a snarled mess.
If you do push this through, I hope you will modify parallel side streets to allow citizens alternatives to
Main Street. Currently side streets are a nightmare with people parking on both sides of the street and
traffic unable to flow two cars abreast. Crazy.
Sincerely,
Teressa Whitney
