SUBJECT: Appointment to the Planning Commission
BACKGROUND: The purpose of the Planning Commission is to improve the present health,
safety, convenience, and welfare of Kalispell citizens and to plan for the future development of
the community. The Planning Commission consists of seven members. One vacancy currently
exists on the Commission for a term ending April 30, 2027, and one application has been
received.
RECOMMENDATION: Mayor Johnson appoint Catherine Walker to the Planning
Commission, followed by a motion from Council confirming approval of the appointment.

As a design professional, I am acutely aware of the implications of proper planning,
adhering to regulations, and evaluation of alternative ideas. As Kalispell grows, it is
imperative to facilitate opportunities for enhancement, improved housing, and
development.

I am a licensed Landscape Architect in the State of Montana. I have worked on many
planning projects, and am familiar with the regulations within the City of Kalispell
