Subject: EXTERNAL Main Street improvements
I am against changing the traffic flow on main by reducing lanes. Terrible idea when our area
has grown tremendously and already has slow traffic through this area. I would like to see
additions of sidewalks to both sides of each street and avenue in the downtown area and
accessible ramps onto the sidewalks instead. I live on 2nd Ave W near the senior center and
there are no sidewalks on large sections of this busy road! Try riding a handicapped scooter in
this neighborhood. There are limited ramps to get on and off of the sidewalks and the
sidewalks are nearly all damaged, tilted and rough. Many times I end up in the road searching
for a way to get onto the sidewalk for the next block. The sidewalks are not ADA accessible nor
are they safe for anyone. People attending football, track games and schools have to walk in
the street and use uneven sidewalks. Use this grant to make the city safer instead of slower.
