Changing Main Street to a 1 lane Public Comment from Sonya Woodworth Aimee Brunckhorst From: Sonya <eyewitnessofhismajesty@yahoo.com> Sent: Monday, May 5, 2025 12:59 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Changing Main Street to a 1 lane To the city council officials and to whomever this may concern, I am writing in response to the plan to change Main Street to 1 lane. I am opposed to changing it. I am opposed to the change for a number of reasons. As a resident that lives very close by, I am very concerned to how this changes my families' life and others that live here. The increase of traffic to other places that cannot handle it until it is fixed , isn't going to work well . It puts us in construction , and makes the whole area an added stress for traffic, recreation, flow, and hassle for everyday life. Don't forget the fact that because it has been a 2 lane road for a long time; would require quite a bit of time to adjust in our neighborhood. There isn't enough patience in this local area for all of that. We already have an influx of traffic due to tourists and the added increase of new residents to Kalispell. We will never beable to get anywhere if this passes. Our main street is quaint the way it is. I worked on Main Street for a season , and we have quite a few consumers, but not enough shops or area to consider needing to make it a designated shopping area that deserves 1 lane that helps make it whatever it is supposed to do. My main concern is that I live on 3rd St.W.and I am overly disgusted with the fact of years that I drive over the most uneven road all the way up to Main St.When I leave my drive way is have on my left and my right, places where the street has sunk in in a big way. I have rivets, and grass in my street. And when manhole or patches have been put it, they are not smooth, but very bumpy. I am asking as a citizen , to look at the neighborhoods and work on the streets. Put that money into the folks around Kalispell. The people that help make Kalispell a functional and growing place. Give us something to be pleased about. The fact that we won't need to get our cars realigned just from driving down the street.
