Unnecessary traffic jam in Kalispell Public Comment from Paul & Kathy Aimee Brunckhorst From: Paul n Kathy <paulnkathy@hotmail.com> Sent: Monday, May 5, 2025 1:52 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL RE:: Unnecessary trafficjam in Kalispell Concerning the poorly thought up and very wasteful proposed Kalispell traffic debacle, I had the thought "They are going to slow down the flow of traffic through downtown Kalispell on purpose by going from two lanes each way down to one lane each way. Is there a MDOT reason for this? They aren't posting 15 MPH signs or 5MPH signs, they are just going to merge two lanes into one lane. Kind of like a freeway traffic jam, only on purpose. At freeway onramps traffic is added and can greatly slow down or even stop all traffic and the traffic is already pretty hectic downtown. That seems to be the goal here. 'Slow down the traffic and then the people will park and shop'...really? It will be safer they say, people will love it they say. .. its going to be a nightmare traffic parking lot. AND THEN drivers will use the 93 bypass and nearby neighborhood streets with kids and old people walking around as the new main street". This is a no vote on throwing money away on this pet project. And how do we have money for $25,000,000 (as in Million) for unnecessary street debacles and not for our schools? In my opinion, whoever brought up this failed idea and those who support it should not be re-elected, this is bad judgement, it is what I call big university ideas from Spokane and Portland pushed on a small little town ... it doesn't fit. ®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®® "when the government fears the people, there is liberty... when the people fear the government, there is tyranny" Thomas Jefferson
