Resolution of intent 6253 safe streets for all Public Comment from Laura Hunter Aimee Brunckhorst From: laura Hunter <Ihbhunter@yahoo.com> Sent: Saturday, May 3, 2025 11:49 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Cc: (aura Hunter Subject: EXTERNAL Resolution of intent 6253 safe streets for all Dear Council members spending 25 mil is not going to make the down town streets safer. 1. it will be hell for the snow plowers since it will have new obstacles and not straight lanes. This is not Cali with no snow and 72 all year long. 2. Sitting out side is lovely but not next to noisy traffic inhaling exhaust . 3.The streets would be safer if we had more police/troopers. Every day driving in from Creston I am almost killed by aggressive idiot drivers who are breaking laws. Too fast. tailgaiting. and my favorite passing 4 cars on the right merging lane in front of Woody's . These people are entitled deranged idiots. This was not a problem before the hords came here during covid. 4. Making half the traffic lanes is not going to improve traffic flow . Think about water flowing through a pipe, If you make it half the diameter you will only have half the flow. Why not provide adequate parking in the form of a parking garage? On 1 st AVE East or West?walk a block or two and you are there. I only go down town in the off tourist times due to no parking and the crushing traffic during the summer months. Kalispell is not Whitefish , never wIII be so let's develop our own identity as a nice family town and not as some Boujee destination. Access without circling the block 7 times would be welcomed.) literally only come downtown early at 7 to Ceres or late after 5 as there is no parking . If you have 5 million to add to the project the council and people in charge of property taxes do not need to raise property taxes again. Hard pass on this change. And I like changes just not this one. If you look at the Facebook post very few want this . It is not a matter of being unable to accept change. Not every proposal for change makes sense. I found Gabriel's comments to be flippant and dismissive of what Kalispell residents want. Sincerely Laura Hunter resident of Kalispell 1
