Subject: EXTERNAL Downtown Kalispell Road Work
Good afternoon,
I would like to voice my thoughts concerning the narrowing of Main Street into two lanes with
the center turn lane. I don't think this is the wisest solution. The widening of sidewalks for
pedestrians is pointless when there isn't a good enough reason to stroll downtown. The
businesses don't garner enough people for this to be the solution. If there were actual
activities besides the Christmas walk, then I would be all for this. However, what actual,
currently established traditions/reasons does Kalispell really have to widen the sidewalks? If
we're concerned about dangerous left turns, why not install traffic lights that allow left turns
before the rest of the traffic is allowed to proceed? I implore you to think of viable practicals
that would serve actual purpose and not the wishing what of downtown could be.
Thank you for your time,
Paul Dunleavy
