URBAN FORESTRY COMMITTEE
MINUTES
Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 4 - 5 p.m.
In attendance: Tree Board Members- Erin Stieber, Martin Rippens, Judy Rosenfeld-Cox,
April Vomfell, Staff- Fred B, Colter H, Alison M
Public Comment: No public comment was given
Approve Minutes:
o Approved November minutes- Judy made a motion to approve the November
minutes, Bette seconded. All approved.
Current Business:
o Current work update was provided.
➢ Contractor finished 51 large trees
➢ Inhouse
▪ Northridge & Lawernce are completed
▪ Since Novembers’s meeting 148 trees have been pruned
▪ Currently working on Silverbrook Estates. ½ trees had no houses on
them, no irrigation. A lot of the trees are in rough shape. They were
planted in 2006-2007. They have sun scolds. Colter estimates there
are up 800 trees that are effected.
▪ The new lift is being used a lot
▪ We hired a new Arborist. We will need a new seasonal to fill that
spot.
o Arbor Day
➢ Theme- Plant a Cooler Future
▪ Alison will work on logos bases on the kids drawings.
➢ Review tree species list
A lot of talk about what species to keep, add or remove. Red Oak was
suggested to be taken off. Adding Regal Oak. It was suggested that we
remove some crabapple. Colter said he really likes the Lweis and Clark Oak.
Lined and Bur Oak were also mentioned as good trees. Mountain Ash are not
doing well. More talk about species will continue next meeting.
