5.CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY LINE AND GRADES OF EXISTING UTILITY CONNECTIONS.
6.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN SERVICE OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES. IF SAID SERVICE IS
DAMAGED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THE UTILITY AND REPAIR THE
DAMAGE AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.
7.ALL IMPROVEMENTS ON THIS PROJECT SHALL BE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
MONTANA PUBLIC WORKS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 7TH EDITION, APRIL 2021 (MPWSS), THE
CITY OF KALISPELL PUBLIC WORKS STANDARDS, AND THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS.
8.TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. ALL TRAFFIC
CONTROL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF KALISPELL STANDARDS AND MANUAL
ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES STANDARDS.
9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ALL APPLICABLE PERMITS
REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLYING WITH ALL THE TERMS OF THE PERMITS. NO
SEPARATE PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR THIS WORK.
10.ANY CHANGES IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL REQUIRE APPROVAL FROM THE CITY OF
KALISPELL. CONTRACTOR TO ENSURE CITY APPROVAL PROVIDED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
11.ALL QUANTITIES LISTED ARE ESTIMATED QUANTITIES, ACTUAL QUANTITIES MAY VARY. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY ALL QUANTITIES.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1.CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY EXISTING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. ANY
DISCREPANCIES FOUND ARE TO BE BROUGHT TO THE ENGINEERS ATTENTION PRIOR TO
COMMENCEMENT OR CONTINUATION OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
2.CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE DIVISION OF INDUSTRIAL REGULATIONS
(OSHA) SAFETY STANDARDS. IF REQUESTED BY THE INSPECTOR, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE PROOF OF A PERMIT FROM SAID DIVISION.
3.THE CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONFINED WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS. MATERIALS
AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE STORED ON THE PROJECT SITE WHERE APPROVED BY THE OWNER. IT
SHALL BE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROTECTION AND SAFEKEEPING OF
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS ON OR NEAR THE SITE WILL BE ENTIRELY THAT OF THE
CONTRACTOR AND THAT NO CLAIM SHALL BE MADE AGAINST THE OWNER BY REASON OF ANY
ACT OF EMPLOYEE OR TRESPASSER.
4.REFERENCE ALL SURVEY MONUMENTS, SECTION CORNERS, 1/4 CORNERS AND PROPERTY
CORNERS PRIOR TO BEING DISTURBED BY CONSTRUCTION. ANY MONUMENTS AND CORNERS
DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPLACED BY A PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR
(PLS) REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF MONTANA.
5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE ALL ROADWAY SURFACE TO EQUAL, OR BETTER CONDITION
THAN EXISTED PRIOR TO EXCAVATION AND CONSTRUCTION, AS DETERMINED BY OWNER AND THE
ENGINEER.
6.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING DUST AND EROSION DURING
CONSTRUCTION AT THEIR EXPENSE. STREETS AND DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE WATERED TO
CONTROL DUST WHEN ORDERED BY THE ENGINEER.
7.ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED BY THE CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS.
8.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING WITH CITY OF KALISPELL PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT FOR SHUT DOWN AND TIE-IN TO EXISTING UTILITIES.
9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY OF KALISPELL AND ENGINEER 48-HOURS PRIOR TO
BEGINNING ANY WORK AND 24 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY SPECIFIC INSPECTION NEEDS DURING THE
COURSE OF THE WORK. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED DURING NORMAL WORKING HOURS
AND SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF AN INSPECTOR AND APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
10.A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL BE HELD WITH CITY OF KALISPELL PUBLIC WORKS,
CONTRACTOR, SUBCONTRACTOR, AND ENGINEER PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
11.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE
PROPERTY INSOFAR AS IT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THESE OPERATIONS. ALL COSTS FOR
PROTECTING, REMOVING, AND RESTORING EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE BORN SOLELY BY
THE CONTRACTOR.
12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL UTILIZE COMPACTION EQUIPMENT SUITABLE FOR THE SOIL TYPES AND
SURFACE MATERIALS ENCOUNTERED ON THE PROJECT.
13.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING, FILING, AND ABIDING BY A STORM WATER
POLLUTION PREVENTION PLAN SWPPP) AND NOTICE OF INTENT (NOI) APPROVED BY THE
MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (MDEQ) OR LOCAL GOVERNING AGENCY,
AS APPROPRIATE. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTROL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION BY INSTALLING
SUITABLE BMPS AND MAINTAIN THEM FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.
14.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR DURATION OF THE PROJECT.

EROSION CONTROL NOTES
1.THE PROJECT AND ADJACENT AREAS DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE
PROTECTED WITH TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL MEASURES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF
THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EMPLOY EROSION, SEDIMENT, AND STORMWATER
RUNOFF CONTROL BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES (BMPS). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT
ALLOW UNTREATED RUNOFF TO DRAIN FROM THE PROJECT SITE.
2.CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL ALL EROSION CONTROL BMPS BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION
BEGINS AT THE SITE.
3.EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL BMPS SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE AND BE CLEANED AND
MAINTAINED UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE AND STABILIZATION OF DISTURBED AREAS
HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED.
4.WASHOUT OF CONCRETE TRUCKS SHALL OCCUR OFF-SITE AT AN APPROVED LOCATION.
TRUCKS SHALL NOT BE WASHED INTO STREETS, DRAINAGE AREAS, GUTTERS, OR ANY STORM
DRAIN SYSTEMS.
5.BMPS SHALL BE INSPECTED EACH DAY WORK IS UNDERWAY AT THE SITE AND IMMEDIATELY
AFTER ANY STORM EVENT OF 0.5" OR MORE OF PRECIPITATION OCCURS. CONTRACTOR SHALL
CLEAN OR MAINTAIN SUCH DEVICES WHEN THEY ARE NOT EFFECTIVE IN TRAPPING AND
RETAINING SEDIMENT, AND ADD DEVICES WHERE NECESSARY. ANY NECESSARY REPAIRS TO
BMPS SHALL BE MADE WITHIN 24 HRS OF OBSERVATION OR NOTIFICATION FROM THE CITY OR
PROJECT ENGINEER.
6.ALL BMPS SHALL MEET AND BE INSTALLED PER THE CURRENT CITY OF KALISPELL STANDARDS.
7.TRACKING PAD AND ADJACENT STREETS SHALL BE CONTINUOUSLY CLEANED AND MAINTAINED
BY THE CONTRACTOR.
8.ALL STORM DRAINAGE INLETS IN THE VICINITY OF THE PROJECT SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM
SEDIMENTATION WITH DRAIN GUARD. DRAIN GUARDS SHALL BE KEPT IN PLACE UNTIL

COMPLYING WITH ALL THE TERMS OF THE PERMITS. NO SEPARATE PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR THIS WORK.

TO THE ENGINEERS ATTENTION PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OR CONTINUATION OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
2.CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE DIVISION OF INDUSTRIAL REGULATIONS (OSHA) SAFETY STANDARDS. IF
REQUESTED BY THE INSPECTOR, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PROOF OF A PERMIT FROM SAID DIVISION.
3.THE CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONFINED WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE
STORED ON THE PROJECT SITE WHERE APPROVED BY THE OWNER. IT SHALL BE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR
PROTECTION AND SAFEKEEPING OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS ON OR NEAR THE SITE WILL BE ENTIRELY THAT OF THE
CONTRACTOR AND THAT NO CLAIM SHALL BE MADE AGAINST THE OWNER BY REASON OF ANY ACT OF EMPLOYEE OR
TRESPASSER.
4.REFERENCE ALL SURVEY MONUMENTS, SECTION CORNERS, 1/4 CORNERS AND PROPERTY CORNERS PRIOR TO BEING DISTURBED
BY CONSTRUCTION. ANY MONUMENTS AND CORNERS DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPLACED BY A
PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR (PLS) REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF MONTANA.
5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE ALL ROADWAY SURFACE TO EQUAL, OR BETTER CONDITION THAN EXISTED PRIOR TO

6.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING DUST AND EROSION DURING CONSTRUCTION AT THEIR EXPENSE.
STREETS AND DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE WATERED TO CONTROL DUST WHEN ORDERED BY THE ENGINEER.
7.ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED BY THE CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS.
8.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING WITH CITY OF KALISPELL AND OWNING UTILITY COMPANY FOR
SHUT DOWN AND TIE-IN TO EXISTING UTILITIES.
9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY OF KALISPELL AND ENGINEER 48-HOURS PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY WORK AND 24
HOURS PRIOR TO ANY SPECIFIC INSPECTION NEEDS DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK.
10.A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL BE HELD WITH CITY OF KALISPELL, OWNER, CONTRACTOR, SUBCONTRACTOR, AND
ENGINEER PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
